Brundle: "This is a stepping stone to many more victories"

The imminent equation of Michael Schumacher's Grand Prix victories by Lewis Hamilton has been under discussion for weeks. Now that Hamilton, like Schumacher, has stood at 91 victories since last weekend, this has not diminished.

Top of his game

Martin Brundle also dares to compare the two record holders in his column for Sky Sports. He starts with the pure statistics: "Michael had fifteen races less to do this, and Lewis had many more races per season in his peak years". However, he thinks Hamilton is far from finished with the record. "He's still at the top of his game and this seems like a stepping stone to many more victories."

Brundle also calls Schumacher a real 'winning machine'. "The right people wanted to be part of his team and part of the success because he was so fast, so good. He largely dominated his teammates in and out of the car, whether he used his right foot or his streetwise mental capacity and deception. Lewis is the same," Brundle continues.

Helmet of Schumacher

At the end of the race, Hamilton was presented with a helmet by Michael Schumacher's son Mick. A great idea, according to Brundle. "I wish Michael had been there so badly. It reminded me of the last conversation I had with Michael over dinner at Monza 2013. It was partly about his great sky diving photos, but also about how to raise a racing son".
