The Grand Prix of the Eifel was another moment for Nico Hulkenberg to return to Formula 1 and he did so cleverly with an eighth place. Max Verstappen had a lot of praise for the German.

On Saturday Hulkenberg had a quiet coffee with a friend in Cologne and a few hours later he boarded for qualifying at the Nùrburgring. It can go crazy for a Formula 1 driver, but despite a lack of preparation Nico drove neatly to an eighth place. When asked about his performance, Verstappen was praised.

Hulkenberg to Red Bull?

''Yes, he just drove a good race'', says the Dutchman on the Peptalk programme. When Robert Doornbos remarked that the German did suffer a bit from his neck, Verstappen called it no more than normal. ''It's normal that he suffers. He doesn't do the training he would normally do because he doesn't have a seat'', says Verstappen.

Hulkenberg is also mentioned as a possible replacement for Verstappen's current team mate, Alexander Albon. The Thai does not come close to Verstappen and according to many he would need to be replaced. Although they are trying, Verstappen refuses to comment on it. ''I'll stay out of it for a while.''
