Alexander Albon dropped out at the Eifel Grand Prix, but the Thai did not make much of an impression before that. The driver from Red Bull Racing complained about the drivers of AlphaTauri and provided exciting moments himself.

Albon must leave

"They race me so hard," Albon played over the onboard radio during the Eifel GP. A remarkable statement for a Formula 1 driver, who then drives Daniil Kvyat off his front wing himself and in a duel with Pierre Gasly also goes overboard. Paul di Resta is not lenient for the young Thai after the race.

''Red Bull needs more from Albon. They need a second driver, because the fact that Mercedes can win the constructors' championship within a few races, while Max Verstappen is within ten points, says it all. It shows what is possible with that package," says the former Formula 1 driver at Sky Sports.

Who pushes Verstappen?

''They have to make a decision. It doesn't look like they're promoting Pierre Gasly again, even though he's doing a good job at AlphaTauri. Out there you have Sergio Perez and Nico Hulkenberg who still have a chance. Perez would fit in very well, but the question is whether you see that as the best long-term solution," says Di Resta.

According to the Brit, Red Bull missed a great opportunity this winter. ''In January I already thought that Red Bull would be after Daniel Ricciardo. He is of age and has worked with Max before. They were a great duo and perhaps the best driver duo on the grid. At the moment Red Bull's junior programme just isn't able to put anyone next to Max who can push him," concludes Di Resta.
