Mick Schumacher is getting closer and closer to his official debut in Formula 1. The son of legend Michael Schumacher will ride for Alfa Romeo this weekend during VT1 of the GP of Eifel. In any case, two people who are close to him have full confidence in him.

Schumacher has made a great impression in Formula 2 and Formula 3 in recent years. In 2018 he won the Formula 3 championship. At the moment he is first in the Formula 2 championship, where the season is still going on. His good performance is now being rewarded by Alfa Romeo, also part of the Ferrari Driver Academy.

Next year next to Raikkonen?

Rumour has it that next year Schumacher will have a seat with the Italian team alongside Kim Raikkonen. Norbert Haug, former team boss at Mercedes, says to RTL Germany that he would find it incomprehensible if the 21-year old German would not drive in Formula 1 in 2021. "If I had something to say in Formula 1, I would not miss this opportunity. Just because he really deserves it, and not for any other reason. I am confident that he will have a fantastic career in Formula 1".

His uncle Ralf is also convinced of Micks' ability, he writes in his column for Sky Sports. "Mick is excellently prepared for Formula 1. Ferrari is doing very well with its junior drivers. But you have to remember that the Alfa is not exactly a fantastic car. So we shouldn't expect too much from him either".
