Red Bull Racing will already have taken a difficult qualifying session into account after the Friday they had in Russia. For Max Verstappen it was not that bad in the end, but for Alexander Albon it is another session he will hope to forget. The Thai was the slowest in Q3.

"It didn't feel terrible in Q1 and Q2. It didn't feel like I had much left to be honest so there's a bit of head-scratching going on," Albon said in Red bull Racing's online press conference. "The laps I did didn't feel terrible, of course, there's always a couple of tenths to find here or there. But yeah, obviously the gap is quite big. It's a bit confusing and we've got some work to do."

Where the drivers around him managed to find time in Q3, Albon could not. Max Verstappen conjured up a bit of magic in his final lap. Why is there such a difference?

Difference of more than a second with Verstappen

"[Me and Max had] slightly different set-ups, Max had slightly less downforce which you can see in the straight-line speeds, he had a bit of a tow as well from Valtteri. It was slightly different towards the end of it."

Because Albon did make it to the third part of qualifying, he thinks he will have a difficult first stint during the race. According to him, everyone will try to do a one-stop, so the drivers who start on a medium tyre have a clear advantage.
