The T-shirt Lewis Hamilton wore a fortnight ago at the Tuscany Grand Prix on Sunday was not the now customary 'Black Lives Matter' T-shirt, but one that called for the arrest of agents in the United States. That was not in FIA protocol, so Hamilton expects them to do something about it.

"I haven’t spoken to them, but I’ve heard that tomorrow they’ll come out with a new ruling of some sort saying what you can and cannot do. I don’t know what they’re going to do this weekend, but lots of rules have been written over the years that haven’t stopped me," says the world champion to the-race.com among others.

FIA comes up with new guidelines

It is therefore clear that the FIA has chosen not to launch an official investigation into the incident, but that it has raised its eyebrows here and there. It remains to be seen, however, whether their new directive will change anything for Hamilton. In any case, he feels strengthened in his views by the reaction of the fans.

"What was really positive was the support that I got from the fans. The fans have been amazing, and I don’t regret a single moment of it. We have a huge collective group of amazing people that watch our sport from multiple different backgrounds and cultures. We should definitely be pushing constant messages towards them, especially for equality."
