Max Verstappen had a fantastic start in Mugello, but it only lasted a few seconds. The Dutchman lost power. Not long after that, it was over and out for the Dutchman, more or less because of the same problem as to why he dropped out at Monza. This to the frustration of the Dutchman, about which Doornbos indicates that reliability really is a serious problem.

Fantastic start

"The momentum was mega," says Doornbos in Crashen in the Kitchen with Ziggo Sport. "He was in second place and in one go he lost all the power." It was clear from Verstappen that he was irritated about the issue. Doornbos: "That motorhome was no fun yesterday. Two the same breakdowns, Monza and Mugello, and Austria that was different."

From the nine Grands Prix so far, Verstappen has only been able to finish six races, not the best statistic for a top team. "This is a serious problem with 30 percent dropout," says Doornbos. Kamphues says that Verstappen has missed out on a lot of points and therefore indirectly the chance of winning the championship.

The presenter of Ziggo Sport says: "He could have won here, he could have won Italy and he could have won Austria. He could have won Italy and he could have won Austria. 75 points more and he is world champion, so it's that bad." This nuances Doornbos somewhat, because "if it's not reliable you can't think about becoming world champion. The Mercedes is a tank, reliable and bloody fast."

Verstappen can't really do much more than just hope that Honda gets everything in order. Finally, Doornbos says: "Max just has to sit out the storm."
