Electronic problem caused Vettel to stop in FP2

Sebastian Vettel came to a halt at the end of Friday's second free practice session due to an electronic problem that cut the engine. An alarm sensor was triggered, but an analysis shows there is not much wrong with the power source. It is therefore not necessary to replace the motor.

Hard to find, easy to fix

The indication was that there was something wrong with the engine, but eventually a sensor turned out to have given the wrong signal. The engine has thus remained without damage, but the Italian branch of Motorsport.com does write that Ferrari had difficulty detecting the electronic problem. Once found, it was quickly resolved.

Vettel has recently had some issues with his car, he did not make it to the finish line at Monza last Sunday. After an analysis, this appears to be due to overheating in the left rear wheel, which was due to the brake disc that was not cooled, because the air supply was cut off. Brembo (supplier) has tested extensively and comes to the conclusion that it was probably poorly mounted.

To prevent Vettel from running into these kinds of problems again this weekend, Ferrari has decided to review and change the procedures surrounding the braking system.
