With second place in Brazil in 2019, Pierre Gasly was able to get a taste of what it's like to be on the podium and in Monza the moment was there: victory. The Frenchman clearly took the time to enjoy that moment and now states in the press conference of Formula 1 that this moment was incomparable with previous victories.

A magical moment

At the end of his race, Gasly received congratulations from all sorts of angles and about that he says it was overwhelming, a magical moment. He also says that an unexpected podium was refreshing, especially as unpredictable races are more fun. And that piece of unexpected comes from the threat from Mercedes.

Gasly was in the lead, but behind him were several other teams with Valtteri Bottas in between. So the Frenchman had expected the Finn at one point, but he didn't, Motorsport-Total.com notes. This victory certainly tastes like more, because Gasly's goal is to fight for more podiums and victories.

Return to Red Bull Racing

This is more difficult with AlphaTauri than with a Red Bull and although he is now often associated with the top team again, partly because of a moderately performing Albon, he says he hasn't thought about it yet. The only conversations he had with Helmut Marko and Christian Horner were to accept the congratulations, so the future hasn't been discussed.

For now, Gasly says his goal with AlphaTauri is to finish the season successfully. This is a challenge, because the car is not the fastest in the field. Nevertheless, Gasly sees a lot of improvements in the developments, they have taken a step compared to last year. With the victory in their pocket, the Italian team is now more motivated than ever.
