After months of speculation, it's finally been confirmed; Sergio Pérez leaves Racing Point at the end of this season. The announcement of the arrival of Sebastian Vettel to the team thus seems only a matter of time, despite previous denials by team boss Otmar Szafnauer. The big question then is: where can Pérez go? We list the possibilities.

Most teams - Ferrari, Williams, Renault (Alpine from next season) and McLaren - already have their drivers' duos fixed for next season. At Mercedes, it seems a matter of time before Lewis Hamilton officially signs up. That leaves only three options for Pérez; Haas, Alfa Romeo and Red Bull/AlphaTauri. The Mexican driver stated in his statement that he would like to stay in Formula 1, but somewhere where he is really motivated

Haas

Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen both have expiring contracts. The two drivers have been the permanent duo of the American team for four years now, but that looks likely to come to an end. However, the team of Gene Haas is in decline behind Racing Point and the question is whether Pérez is wanting for that. Moreover, there are more hijackers on the coast; mainly Nico Hulkenberg who is already frequently associated with the team.

Alfa Romeo

Here too both Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi have an expiring contract. Giovinazzi hasn't convinced yet and the question is whether Raikkonen will continue in Formula 1 after eighteen seasons. Just like Haas, Alfa Romeo will be a step backwards for Pérez, with again several candidates for a seat. Formula 2 talents Callum Ilott, Robert Shwartzman and Mick Schumacher are all part of Ferrari's training programme and will be only too happy to make their appearance in Formula 1 next season.

Red Bull / AlphaTauri

Officially only Max Verstappen has a contract with Red Bull for after this season (until 2023), but Pierre Gasly and Alexander Albon seem certain of a place at Red Bull or AlphaTauri. Red Bull's team management have repeatedly stated that Albon will be next year's driver, but you can never be sure at Red Bull. However, it looks like Daniil Kvyat will lose his seat after this season. This would free up a spot at the Red Bull/AlphaTauri block. However, should this be the case, the Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda seems to be rolling up his sleeves.

So there are options for Pérez, but whether the Mexican driver is willing to take a step back is still questionable. With 188 races and 8 podium finishes to his name, he is, in any case, a driver who can help a team move forward. For example, as the desired strong teammate of Verstappen. Time will tell.
