Honda has a rich history in Formula 1. World titles were won, constructors' championships won many victories. With Pierre Gasly's victory at Monza, Honda has now won both with Red Bull Racing and AlphaTauri, and no other team has been able to do so in the hybrid era.

Honda returned to Formula 1 shortly after the introduction of the hybrid era in 2014. A partnership with McLaren was established. Expectations were high, but things turned out differently. McLaren and Honda couldn't get all heads pointing in the same direction, so the Honda engine was never properly integrated into the McLaren chassis.

Victories with Red Bull and AlphaTauri

The marriage between McLaren and Honda became a divorce and fortunately there was Red Bull who dared to do it with the Japanese. First of all, the team of Toro Rosso was put to the test for a year. After half a year Red Bull knew enough and definitely chose Honda, so they said goodbye to Renault.

In the first year between Red Bull and Honda Max Verstappen immediately won a number of races. This was a great pleasure for both parties. Although Red Bull is short this year, Honda does have something to celebrate after the unexpected victory of Gasly in Italy. Honda is now the only manufacturer that has won a race with two different teams since the hybrid era. The era that began in 2014.

Until last Sunday, only Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull took victories in Formula 1, and now AlpaTauri joins them. The men already had a double podium behind their names. Verstappen and Gasly were on the highest steps after the Brazilian Grand Prix last year. Masashi Yamamoto , Honda's Formula One Director, was already praising the history between Honda and both Red Bull teams earlier this week.
