The Italian Grand Prix is one that we can talk about for a long time to come. Not in the least because of the surprising podium with AlphaTauri rider Pierre Gasly on the highest step. In a new podcast of the NOS, Jan Lammers and Louis Dekker look back on the race.

For Red Bull, it was a weekend of ups and downs. The Red Bull Racing drivers both finished outside the points, but the second Red Bull team, AlphaTauri, won the Grand Prix with Gasly. At the end of the race, Red Bull's media session - just like Mercedes' - was cancelled and reporter Louis Dekker is unhappy with Red Bull's team boss Christian Horner. "Two (former) Red Bull pupils are having the day of their motorsport life and then you say 'I don't give a media session', I thought that was so lame. Anyway, who am I."

"He always has so much talk and bravura", continues Dekker, "I would have liked to ask him now if he enjoys Gasly more or if he is sick of Verstappen and Albon". About Gasly himself Dekker is in any case full of praise. "This is so incredibly handsome it is awarded to him by everyone. This was exactly the victory for the good driver at the right moment. Last year you really saw him change from a nice boy into a dead bird".

Gasly calmed down

Jan Lammers adds: "I think he's calmed down. When he was at Red Bull he was only busy beating Max Verstappen, and you shouldn't be doing that. He was far too forced to drive." Gasly actually knows how to impress in the AlphaTauri all season long. Dekker: "He has done a lot of good races this year and is significantly better than his teammate Kvyat."
