For the first time since 2010, with Fernando Alonso, Ferrari won its home race at Monza last year. For winner Charles Leclerc, after the Belgian Grand Prix, it was even his second Formula 1 victory in a row. The chances of an equalization next weekend seem minimal.

Nine years the Italian team had to wait for it, but last year the euphoria was great to win in front of their own public. Apart from the fact that the chance of a new Ferrari victory doesn't seem to be very big, the (own) public will also be missing. Although the latter may not be the worst with the current state of affairs at Ferrari. Still, there will be some public present at the Grand Prix: "There will be 250 doctors and nurses in the stands, as a symbolic honour for their courage, sense of duty and altruism as front-line workers in the fight against Covid-19", according to Ferrari on their website.

For Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc there are mixed feelings about this weekend. "Last year I experienced the most emotional moment of my racing career here in Monza. This time around, the grandstands will be empty, as our fans, who made the podium ceremony so unforgettable, unfortunately can’t be there with us”, said the Monegask.

The lack of competitiveness is not helping either. "It will be a difficult weekend. All the same, we are not lacking motivation for this round. We will all pull together to bring home the best possible result.”
