Formula 1 actually wanted to implement the ban on qualifying mode during the Belgian Grand Prix, but had to postpone it for one race. A lucky thing for Renault, according to the Spanish media.

It was announced last week that Formula 1 wants a ban on qualifying mode. It seems to be a means of narrowing the huge gap that Mercedes has left, but other teams are also suffering as a result. Where Ferrari has already had to reduce everything, Renault now suddenly has to do the same.

Major drawback for Renault

According to the Spanish medium AS, Renault is therefore the engine supplier who is most affected. In midfield, Renault and its customer team are now able to hit a two to three tenths gap on Saturday, but that will soon be unusable. Competitor Ferrari does not need to reduce anything and seems to be winning a spot. In addition, Honda has never made an impression on Sunday, according to AS, so the Honda-powered teams also lose less.

According to the Spanish medium, Carlos Sainz also has a disadvantage at McLaren. However, the question is what it does for Racing Point, which will also have to take a step back with the Mercedes engine. During the Italian Grand Prix, however, it will only become clear what effect it has on the proportions in Formula 1.
