Today it was announced that all ten teams in Formula 1 have signed the new Concorde Agreement. This means that the teams will remain linked to Formula 1 for the next five years. There are many changes in the new agreements, the biggest one being that there will be a fairer distribution of the prize money. Auto, Motor und Sport made an estimate of the losses and profits of some teams.

According to the German medium, it is mainly the top three that are suffering a huge decline on the new rules. By maintaining the 2019 standings, Mercedes would lose more than 32 million dollars. Red Bull Racing would lose $29 million and Ferrari would lose $25 million. Remarkably, Red Bull will end up losing the least.

AlphaTauri recovers loss Red Bull

That team also has AlphaTauri, Red Bull's second team. With the new agreement, the Italian team will make a profit of 25 million dollars. That would mean that the loss of the great Red Bull would be almost equalized by the profits of AlphaTauri. Other teams benefiting from the new agreement are Renault and Racing Point. Those teams would make a profit of 21 million and nineteen million dollars.

So it is clear that the F1 prize money has been taken away from the big teams, to be redistributed to the smaller teams. With this estimation of AMuS it is also clear to see why Red Bull was soon at peace with the agreement, while Mercedes had long doubts. Red Bull makes almost no loss, because of AlphaTauri, but Mercedes makes an enormous loss.
