With a front row lockout for Mercedes, the team gave themselves the best chance to win the Grand Prix of Spain. Toto Wolff just isn't quite confident yet, with Max Verstappen in the Red Bull just behind them.

Mercedes remains extremely dominant on Saturday, with probably the last qualifying session where party mode can be used. But in addition to the well-known qualifying mode, the black arrows are also very fast.

Toto Wolff will however keep a close eye on the Red Bull Racing team. "We've shown another strong qualifying session, but we know Sunday is the only day that counts. It's expected to be as warm as Silverstone last week and we all know what happened there. Red Bull was clearly the fastest in the race," said the team boss in the team preview of Mercedes.

Verstappen fastest on Sunday?

"If we look at the long runs on Friday, Red Bull is expected to be the benchmark tomorrow. So we need to drive a smart race, manage it from the front and know that the fastest car on the track is probably behind us with Verstappen", the Austrian continues.

According to the team boss the only thing that will be done is to get the most points. "We will have to push hard and try to win, but if that isn't possible then we have to focus on limiting the damage in these difficult conditions", concludes Wolff.
