Verstappen expects Mercedes to just be too fast on Sunday

Max Verstappen has a third place subscription this year, especially during the qualifications. Again he won't be surprised with this result, although he can be satisfied with the relatively small gap to Mercedes at the Circuit de Catalunya. The question is whether he can pass them tomorrow.

"Of course, you always have to keep a little faith that you can do better. I think it wasn't a wrong lap in itself and seven tenths... the last few games we were more than a second behind, so I think it didn't go wrong. Only we know they're extremely fast in one lap," said Verstappen in front of the cameras of Ziggo Sport.

Faster than Hamilton in longrun

"I think the red belt's fine to boot. But let's just wait and see. Usually, they don't drive at full speed [during longruns] either. I think Lewis always has something left on Sunday. So it felt good on my part, but I don't know if it's going to be good enough to really attack them".

The Circuit de Catalunya is known for being very difficult to overtake here. The Red Bull Racing driver takes into account that this has to be done in a different way. "We have to do it on strategy, unless I have a good start and something happens at turn one."
