Lewis Hamilton managed to put his Mercedes in second place in qualifying for the second Grand Prix of the 2020 Formula 1 season at Silverstone. The British driver did not seem completely satisfied with his car afterwards. This ends a three consecutive streak of pole positions for the six-time world champion. Tomorrow, he will have to attack his teammate Valtteri Bottas to take the win.

"It was not quite fantastic. It was not the perfect lap unfortunately," explains Hamilton. "I don't expect many people to be able to manage their tyres like this to finish a one-stopper. Last weekend it wasn't about finishing the stint all the way to the end and this weekend the tyres are a step softer." Hamilton will start on the medium tyre on Sunday, after having qualified on it during the second part of qualifying. Max Verstappen starts on the hard tyre.

A one-stopper is not expected, because the tyres will not make the distance, Hamilton expects. Strategy will therefore play a very important role tomorrow and Hamilton expects to drive a two-stopper himself. "So it is very unlikely that we will be a one stopper this weekend."
