LIVE: Formula 1 is back in England, FP1 from Silverstone
At 11:00 the first free practice of the Grand Prix of Great Britain starts at Silverstone. There will be a lot of driving on this track in the next two weeks as F1 has its second doubleheader of the season.
Get used to Silverstone
The first training is important. The sooner you get used to the track, the better. Many laps will be raced in England in the next two weeks so collecting data as quickly as possible is important to beat the competitor.
Although we will still see a few thunderous laps, it is the beginning of a long period on the same track.
Is Mercedes expanding its lead?
Mercedes is on the hunt for more points this weekend to extend its lead over Red Bull Racing. The German team has little to fear from competitors, but cannot collapse or standstill. The smoke from Racing Point and McLaren looms behind Red Bull .
Ferrari has completely disappeared and did not join the traditional top three in 2020. They do not expect to be able to join this weekend either. Both drivers indicated that the current package will not be good enough to win big at Silverstone. And then the same race hurt two weeks in a row.
