With the addition of Portimao, Imola and the Nürburgring to the F1 calendar for 2020, a number of Grands Prix are also cancelled for a race in 2020. With the announcement of the new races, it was also announced that a number of races will be cancelled and will only be shown on the calendar again in 2021.

The circuits in North America and South America, namely the circuits in Mexico, Brazil, Canada and the United States will unfortunately not organize a race this year. In Mexico they are at peace with FOM's decision. "We think it's important to give the safest experience to everyone involved. For that reason, we have decided to postpone the date of our race".

Decision that had to be accepted

Due to the large amount of corona infections in both continents, it looked like it was going to be difficult to organize a Grand Prix for some time now. So with this decision there will be a line through four Grands Prix, but instead there will be three more. For Montreal the cancellation will come as a difficult decision, after they had tried to organize a race for a long time.

"It's a decision we have to accept. The health and safety of our employees, partners and hopeful fans will always have the highest priority", the track explains. Chase Carey, CEO of Formula 1, explains that it was a difficult choice. "We would like to thank our American partners very much, we look forward to returning next season when we can race at full speed again."
