Lewis Hamilton wants to match Michael Schumacher this year when it comes to the number of world titles. Should the Brit become world champion this year, he has seven world titles, as many as the German record holder. In Hungary, the Mercedes driver will also be able to match another Schumacher record.

If Hamilton is flagged first this Sunday, he will win the Hungaroring for the eighth time. The Brit won for the first time in Hungary in 2007 and last year, after a fight with Max Verstappen, for the last time. It's a circuit that clearly suits the world champion well, which is bad news for his Red Bull competitors.

Hamilton surprises with its own records

In the past there has only been one driver who also won the same Grand Prix eight times and that is of course Michael Schumacher. He did that in France. When Motorsport-total Hamilton asks about the possible upcoming record, the British driver doesn't know: "I didn't even know that".

The world champion continues to take records from Schumacher to his own surprise: "Every time I am reminded of Michael's records it is still amazing how many victories and championships he has. One record after another he has."

Hungaroring good circuit for Hamilton

The world champion is looking forward to the weekend in Hungary because the circuit is logically well located. Hamilton has no explanation for this: "I don't know why we drive excellent on one circuit and perform less on the other. In any case, I know I've always loved the circuit in Hungary".

Red Bull has to prepare well with Verstappen. Earlier Hamilton said after the victory in Styria that the Austrian circuit was one of his inferior tracks.
