Red Bull had a solid weekend at the Styrian GP last weekend. Max Verstappen, Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton rose far above the rest of the field and rode away from the others at an early stage. However, Verstappen's teammate Alexander Albon had a moderate weekend, finishing remarkably far behind the Dutchman.

Looking back on the race, team boss Christian Horner said that how Albon performed in the second half of the race was very different from how the opening phase went: "Alex had a race of two halves," he said in a live Q&A from Red Bull. "I mean the first half he was struggling and then the second half, I thought he was doing well and his pace was good".

No obvious reason

Despite the strong second half for the Thai driver Christian Horner can't immediately explain the difference in speed with Verstappen: "Why he has problems, we are not completely over the top yet. As you probably saw on television, he picked up some frontal right blistering, and he tried to both protect and be competitive and drive as fast as he could".

Exactly what the problem is remains rather unclear. Although Horner also saw the difference with Verstappen: "I think that whatever causes it, we don't really know what it is. But the drop is a little bigger for Alex than for Max, by the looks of it".
