Soccer club Tottenham Hotspur runs a mediocre season in the Premier League and most likely misses out on placement for the famous Champions League. The Europa League is the alternative, although the Portuguese do not consider it a prize.

Mourinho, who won the tournament in 2017 with Manchester United, thinks his club doesn't fit in the Europa League. "It's like Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has to race in Formula 2. It would feel as crazy for a champion like him to have to compete in that class as it does for us in the Europa League. Ask him if he wants to win Formula 2. I don't think this is his lifelong dream." The Champions League is the biggest club tournament in football, the Europa League is its little brother.

Tottenham Hotspur reached the final of the Champions League last year, but this season things are not going so well. The Londoners occupy place eight in the Premier League. In order to participate in European football, the Spurs have to be at least sixth.
