Verstappen: "It's a pity that the Dutch and Japanese GP's have been cancelled"

Because of the pandemic, a number of Grands Prix were cancelled, including the races at the Circuit of Zandvoort and Suzuka in Japan. Exactly two races that are very important for Red Bull Racing next to the race in Austria. The Dutch Grand Prix of course because of Verstappen and the Japanese Grand Prix because of engine supplier Honda.

Next year

In the press conference Max Verstappen was asked for his opinion about cancelling the two mentioned Grands Prix. It's clear that Verstappen thinks it's a disappointment, but it's no different. "It's a pity that both Grands Prix have been cancelled. I was really looking forward to it. First to go to the Netherlands and see all the fans there. We will have to wait a year for it, because it's not that it has been cancelled forever. We'll be there next year."

In 2019 the race of Verstappen on Suzuka didn't go too well, as he dropped out after fourteen laps due to an accident with Leclerc. So those memories are not too good, but the circuit is high on the list at Verstappen. "For me, returning to Suzuka is always special. I had my first experience in a Formula 1 car there. It's a beautiful track, a real driver's track."

"Last year, we rode a Honda engine there for the first time. It's something special, the fans really like Formula 1 and of course we didn't have the desired result on Sunday, but the support there was fantastic. So yes, it's a shame we can't race there." It goes without saying that Verstappen will not let himself be knocked out of the field, the Dutchman will always do his best.

"In every Grand Prix I try to do the best. For myself, for my team, for the fans and of course for the Honda fans", said Verstappen.
