After a very long winter break Formula 1 finally starts again. For the drivers it will take some getting used to, where according to George Russell the difference will mainly be in the race.

Formula 1 has been at a standstill for a long time, but Russell himself has been busy. The young Brit has thrown himself completely into sim racing and was even crowned the virtual champion. This will probably take some getting used to from next week, when he will have to take a seat in his Williams.

Moreover, a sim racing setup is quite different from a real Formula 1 car. Still, Russell thinks qualifying shouldn't be a problem. "When you have to give it everything, I think it will be just like riding a bike. You either have it or you don't. You know you have to go full throttle for a lap," explains the Williams driver to Motorsport.com.

Lots of parts to manage

During the race, according to the Brit, there will only be a lot more involved. "You have to manage your tyres, your brakes, the temperature of the engine, you have to attack and defend, talk to the engineers, give them feedback. That's the part that probably requires the most from a driver. It takes a lot of finesse to optimize your whole package."

In order to prepare for the upcoming season Russell has done a lot of homework. "I looked back on last year, how I prepared for Australia and how I ended up in Abu Dhabi. In the simulator I looked at how I should approach the race. Now I hope that we are in a good position in Austria", concludes the British positively.
