The auction organised by the FIA to raise money in the fight against the coronavirus raised a lot of money. Race overalls, showcar and helmets. Everything was sold for charity.

The 'Race against Covid' auction started last week and is now finished. People could bid freely on different items from the past and present. There were suits from Damon Hill and Michael Schumacher, but there were also items from Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton for sale.

Verstappen item not the most expensive

Of the current drivers, the Hamilton item was worth the most. His shoes, gloves and overalls were eventually sold for 28,700 euros, while Leclerc's overalls were sold for 27,600 euros. Van Verstappen's overalls, shoes and a piece of rear wing were for sale, but that yielded 26,500 euros.

The product that was eventually sold for the highest price was the McLaren MP4-24 showcar. The show model was the 2009 Formula 1 car with which then reigning champion Lewis Hamilton won in Hungary and Singapore. The car was that year not good enough for a second world title, Hamilton was finally fifth in the standings.
