Formula 1 is about to embark on the most complicated season in the sport. Races that do not continue, social distancing during the Grands Prix and a virus that lurks in every country that enters F1.

Opportunities for new races

However, the coronavirus also brings opportunities. Mugello, for example, seems to be organising an F1 race for the first time in the history of the circuit. This will be held in the weekend after the Italian Grand Prix at Monza.

Russia against Portugal

Mugello is not the only circuit that aims for a race without an audience. Portimao wants to organise the Portuguese Grand Prix in the country for the first time since 1996. The target date for the circuit in Algarve is September 27th, the day when the Russian Grand Prix in Sochi is planned.

The organization of the Russian Grand Prix announces that they are still preparing for the race at the end of September. "We are preparing to organize our race, which is still scheduled for September 27th, despite the fact that the Portuguese are trying to take over that date", said Alexey Titov, promoter of the Russian GP against FormulaPassion.

First race with public?

In Sochi they are even thinking about organizing a race with public: "The situation related to COVID-19 is causing problems, but we are trying to face it. Fortunately we have an organizing committee that helps us solve problems in such a way that the race takes place on time and with all elements; cars on the track and spectators in the stands", concludes Titov.
