"Leclerc is going to be the new Schumacher at Ferrari"

In the first season of Charles Leclerc in Formula 1 the Monegask already stood out. At Alfa Romeo he quickly achieved good results and that was rewarded at the end of 2018 with the switch to Ferrari. At the team in Maranello, too, the young driver quickly became a fixed value and with a contract that keeps him connected to the team for a longer period of time, Leclerc doesn't seem to be leaving Ferrari any time soon.

Because the driver showed a lot of good things in a short time, he is already compared a lot with other icons who drove for Ferrari. Also former GP2 champion and F1 test driver Davide Valsecchi sees that Leclerc has become a fixed value at Ferrari. "Charles has already shown that he can perform at the level of Sebastian Vettel. Now that Ferrari has decided to go for the world title with him, it indicates that the team has the utmost confidence in the driver", Valsecchi said at the F1 Nation podcast.

According to Valsecchi, the fact that Ferrari is already putting its trust in one driver was the right choice. "It's a good decision because I think Ferrari will have a lot of trouble managing Leclerc and Vettel. In 2019 there were already three battles between the two drivers". Leclerc has shown in those battles that he can handle the fight with the big boys in F1.

All in all Valsecchi thinks that Ferrari sees a new world star in Leclerc. "It looks like Leclerc is going to be the new Schumacher for Ferrari. His time has now come to fight for the world championship", said Valsecchi.
