'New Formula 1 team postpones debut by one year until new rules in 2022'

Ross Brawn indicated on Tuesday that there will be no new engine manufacturers in Formula 1 until 2026, but what about new teams? With the new regulations from 2022 and the newly introduced budget cap, this seems like the ideal opportunity to get in.

In October it was announced that an organisation called Monaco Increase Management (MIM) is open for a Formula 1 debut. CEO of the organisation, Salvatore Gandolfo, has already had talks with Formula 1, but these were put on a lower level by the coronavirus. However, the debut has not yet been ruled out.

A new Formula 1 team

However, MIM, which also accompanies ex-Mercedes protégé Pascal Wehrlein and IndyCar rookie Alex Palou, has not yet memorized the switch to Formula 1. However, according to Motorsportweek.com, MIM would now postpone it for a year. Whereas initially 2021 was the ideal entry moment with the new rules, now is 2022.

Nevertheless, sources around the organization indicate that the global situation after the coronavirus is being looked at. This will determine whether the organisation will definitively step in. Until that time, Formula 1 will have to make do with the ten teams that are already present in F1 and the option of MIM taking over an existing F1 team is not excluded.
