The Aeroscreen that was developed by Red Bull Racing was preferred compared to the halo. While F1 chose for the HALO, Red Bull's option has now made its official entry into the IndyCar season and Red Bull is happy about that.

During the first race of the IndyCar season on the Texas Motor Speedway, all 24 cars were equipped with an Aeroscreen. Developed by Red Bull Advanced Technologies (RBAT), Dallara and IndyCar, the screen will be a mandatory part of the cars in this season's American racing class.

Commercial development employee at RBAT, Andy Damerum, was satisfied after the first performance. ''The Aeroscreen has worked very well and may be stronger than the Halo. The screen should provide that little bit of extra safety for drivers and we were proud to see it on the track for the first time'', Damerum said in a statement from Red Bull.

Also for the drivers the first real test was a success. ''I don't notice the screen while driving. Compared to last season it still feels the same. In that respect it's very clever how they managed to do that. I had no problem at all with my vision," says IndyCar champion Josef Newgarden.
