In the short term, Formula 1 will present the European part of the Formula 1 calendar in 2020, but the question is more and more whether a non-European part will be held during the coming F1 season?

Problems outside Europe

All parties involved are shouting at the moment that it would like to organize the races, but in reality it works slightly different. For example, the Singapore Grand Prix does not want to organize a race without an audience, so we can assume that the race will be cancelled soon. The GP of Russia could be, but with more infected people everyday than anywhere else, Russia does not seem to be the best location to host a major event.

Also the Azerbaijan Grand Prix is still on the calendar, but there the whole city has to be turned around for a race, while there is no income from public. In Japan, the MotoGP race was previously cancelled in October, so it seems a matter of time before the Formula 1 race in October will also be cancelled.

European substitutes

The races in America, Mexico and Brazil are still very far away, but the consequences of the coronavirus are enormous there as well. In America, for example, more than 100,000 people have already died from the virus and Brazil follows with 30,000 deaths. The numbers are also rising enormously in Mexico, which makes you wonder if those countries want to be on the calendar?

In case countries don't want this, Chase Carey has already looked in Europe. According to Speedweek.com Carey has focused his arrows on a race in Hockenheim, but Mugello would also be an option as a second race on Italian soil. Another plan is two more races in Monza, where it was announced on Monday that racing is possible.
