Because of the coronavirus there is a lot of uncertainty about the future of F1. When can there be raced again and when can there be an audience at the Grands Prix. Also Liberty Media has no answer to such questions. In a shareholders meeting the company announced that there is still a lot of uncertainty about the future of races with an audience.

"It's still very unclear. I think we have to be careful with it and believe that everything is going to adapt. That way we can build an existence that can deal with in a COVID world". Greg Maffei, CEO of Liberty, indicates that the company itself is still working on all the adaptations around the measures and that all the alternatives must be looked at carefully.

Live events without an audience

"There will be live events. Either because of a vaccine or because of a change in the measures is not yet clear. We will look at it step by step and will be careful". Liberty chairman John Malone indicates that Formula 1 does not depend on the public coming to the races. "I think there will be live events again soon. Perhaps even that the best place for the content from them is television or digital, as it has been".

So it seems that Liberty Media is counting on being able to organise live events again soon, but that the public will not be welcome any longer. Until there is a clear vaccine or another solution, Liberty does not expect an audience to be welcome at events.
