While many of his mostly younger colleagues we're likely to see more than ever during the coronacrisis because of virtual racing, Lewis Hamilton is preparing for the upcoming season in relative silence. According to the champion, that preparation is now more important than ever.

Hamilton is afraid that the first few meters on the Red Bull Ring will feel a bit 'rusty'. He wants to avoid that scenario at all costs and that's why he will do everything he can to stay competitive. He's even going to do a lot of miles in the simulator, something he doesn't normally enjoy and whose effectiveness he openly questioned in the past.

"Mercedes has to make a full start right from the start. We have to guarantee that we make optimal use of all available tools in order to prepare for use. I'll probably take a seat in the simulator, which I don't always like. But it is very important that we exhaust all of our options to be ready for the first race weekend. It must be as if we haven't missed a single Grand Prix."

Perfectionist Hamilton

In fact, Hamilton wants to come out of this crisis better than ever, because standing still in his world is regressing. If he is one day less motivated to train, he will remember that his competitors are training at that moment.

“If we don't all manage to grow in this crisis, we're wasting our time. Nothing is served to us on the silver platter. If you want to achieve your goal, you have to want it more intimately than your opponents. There are people out there who are constantly thinking about how they can improve and beat us. We cannot allow that", aldus Hamilton tegen Speedweek.
