Sebastian Vettel and Ferrari announced Tuesday that their roads will separate after this season. With this, the four-time German champion will leave the Italian race stable without becoming a champion, a goal for which the collaboration was born. What Vettel is going to do now is unclear, however Ferrari has already equipped itself with a new driver with Carlos Sainz.

Common goals

Mattia Binotto indicated that the departure of Vettel at Ferrari is due to the lack of common goals. As a result, there would no longer be interest in continuing together, but what exactly the view is of Sebastian Vettel is unclear. He doesn't have a team yet, so his future in the sport is highly uncertain.

His departure from Ferrari is in any case enough food for speculation, as former F1 driver Mark Webber does. He states on Twitter that it may be that Bernie Ecclestone influenced Vettel's decision to quit. Vettel and Ecclestone are good friends and the German would often turn to the Brit for advice.

Council

Webber: "Deals getting done when everyone’s bored. Don’t underestimate who Sebastian gets plenty of counsel from… Bernie (Ecclestone)." According to Webber, what exactly the advice would have been, he leaves that further in the middle. However, he does make some suggestions as to why Sebastian might have come to the decision.

"Could it be that the red car wasn’t particularly competitive pre-season, stable regs and a future budget cap?" It could be and it is perhaps a matter of time until Vettel gives more clarity about his reason for leaving Ferrari.
