Carlos Sainz is also doing well financially with his move to Ferrari. The 25-year old driver would see his salary doubled at the Italian race stable. Sainz is less than teammate Charles Leclerc with his contract, but he doesn't get away from it very much.

At McLaren Sainz would currently earn around 2.8 million euros on an annual basis, but according to Corriere della Sera that would be between 5.5 and 6.5 million euros at Ferrari. However, this is without performance bonuses, which means that the amount could increase in the event of some successes. Leclerc, thanks to its recently renewed contract, raises about 9 million euros each season.

Ferrari change of course

With the departure of Sebastian Vettel, the Maranello based race stable has in any case saved a lot of salary costs, because the four-time world champion received about 40 million euros each year. From 2021 Ferrari is therefore no longer a formation that competes with Mercedes and Red Bull in terms of salaries. There much higher amounts will be paid to drivers Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen. Also McLaren will allegedly spend more than Ferrari, given that the Thursday recruited Daniel Ricciardo will receive a million euros in salary.

Sainz has signed a two-year contract with Ferrari, for 2021 and 2022. Next season the Spaniard can still be admired in the orange of McLaren. There, just like last year, he will compete with the young Briton Lando Norris.
