Criticism of Vettel: 'Too bad he didn't work harder to improve that'

As a big fan of Charles Leclerc, Peter Windsor already saw the departure of Sebastian Vettel coming. The German is no longer in place at Ferrari and also for the Italians it is better to look further.

Ricciardo gave the warning

''I'm not surprised, because with Leclerc you already have number one and you don't want a second driver who will often be irritated because he is driven around the ears by his talented team mate. Vettel should have learned from 2014, when he was ridden around the ears by Ricciardo. He had four world titles in his pocket, but Ricciardo shouted loud and clear that he had weaknesses," says Windsor in his latest video.

Williams' former team manager puts his finger on the sore spot. ''With a double diffuser Vettel was and is still great, but if the back of the car is restless he can't compete with Ricciardo and Leclerc. It's a shame he didn't work harder to improve that, because that's what he's paying the price for now''.

Giovinazzi the best choice, right?

''For Ferrari, however, it's only good, because they can build the team around one driver and with Leclerc they have a good racer. Antonio Giovinazzi would be perfect next to Leclerc, but I always hope for Mick Schumacher. The first year will be tough, but for the long term that's the best option.''

Windsor also cites Ricciardo as an interesting option, but where everyone assumes that Carlos Sainz will be the replacement for Vettel, Windsor is not too happy with that. ''Sainz is a great driver who can win races just like Giovinazzi, but I think that Sainz causes more damage at Ferrari than Giovinazzi'', concludes Windsor.
