Daniel Ricciardo will not look back very satisfied on his move to Renault. The promises didn't come true and now Renault also seems to want to pull the plug. However, there is no way back for the Australian.

With the departure of Sebastian Vettel at Ferrari that again opens doors for Ricciardo, but since his arrival at Renault it has not exactly gone better with the race stable. In addition, the team wants to abandon 2020 for the new rules, but now that they have been postponed until 2022, the French race stable is with the fried pears.

No chance for Ricciardo

A return of Ricciardo to Red Bull Racing hung in the air for quite some time, but that balloon pierced Helmut Marko immediately. ''If Alexander Albon performs as well as last season, which is what I expect, Albon will stay with us and Ricciardo will have almost no chance. Only if Albon doesn't like it in 2020 we'll look at other drivers, but even then Daniel isn't the only one'', Marko says to the German Sport1.

Besides drivers there were also wild rumours about a possible conflict with Christian Horner, but that is already out of the world. ''There was nothing going on at all. Of course we want to keep Mr. Horner. There was only one thing and it blew up. Christian was against the budget cap, while we're in favour, which is why there was some controversy,'' concludes Marko.
