The preparations of the drivers for the 2020 season had been fully accomplished. In March the athletes appeared twenty strong in Australia but there was no racing. For the time being there still is no racing. Lewis Hamilton reacted to the shock that went through the F1 world.

The preparations for the F1 season are crucial. Drivers have to be fit to race in F1 cars. Drivers were already fully prepared for 2020. During the winter tests Hamilton showed with his new Mercedes W11 to be ready for his seventh title. That things didn't work out in the end must be frustrating, is the question that is being asked to the champion.

In a press release from Mercedes on their youtube channel Hamilton looks back on the start of the season and how this last minute was cancelled: "It wasn't really frustrating for me. It was actually more of a shock for the whole system.

Unreal that we weren't going to race

"The night before, everyone was asked whether it was wise to race or not. The next day I got up, of course very happy to finally race again. To hear then that we wouldn't go to the track that day was very unreal".

"At first I wondered. Aren't the free practice sessions going on? Is qualifying skipped? The weekend we just stayed there and it was quite difficult. It's my fourteenth year now and I can tell you that every year you try to be a little better at the start of the season".

It was especially a hard blow for the Brit because he expected to be a bit stronger at the start again this year. So far nothing has been able to tell who had the best preparation and the best material.

Difficult time for Hamilton

"The fact that we didn't race in the end made for a few difficult days with a lot of questions. That we still haven't raced is not a good feeling. It's not necessarily that something you love and live for has really has really been taking from you, but it just doesn't happen every time. I miss racing, but I keep putting it into perspective and I keep looking at the positive," Hamilton said.
