Two GP's on a circuit will have consequences: "Then you'll be much stronger"

Esteban Ocon prefers Formula 1 to start again with spectators, as they determine the atmosphere on the track. However, this is not the case for the first Grands Prix of 2020, so the Renault driver is going to 'miss' them. Moreover, the 23-year old driver states that organising two Grands Prix on the same calendar will have a significant impact.

“If that’s the only way we can restart, I would be very happy to do so," says Ocon, who can't wait to get behind the wheel of his car again. At Sky Sports, Ocon says it's probably going to create a special atmosphere. “We will miss the fans, we will miss the interaction with them at the track. It’s going to be a very weird atmosphere."

The Formula 1 season is expected to start at the beginning of July. Ocon has confidence in the organization of Formula 1. “I’m sure everything is going to be well-organised for us to restart at some point, and it’s going to be safe for us to do so when we are going to do it. As long as we can put a good show on for them on TV, it would be better than nothing”, he says.

Two GP's on the same circuit

According to the latest rumours, the year starts with two races in Austria and two races in Silverstone. The Frenchman likes the idea and says he has experience with this concept. “I had the experience of doing that in Formula 3 and DTM, two races at the same track, and it’s never the same results. When you come back, you are stronger the second time, you know what to do and how to react to things. Things change and people work better on the second time, or don’t improve enough," Ocon says. “So it’s going to be very different if we do it like that.”
