Leclerc likes fewer races: "People are going to take more risks."

The world has come to a standstill because of the coronapandemic, so Formula 1 hasn't started yet. Everyone wants to start the championship only the question is when? Charles Leclerc hopes that we will be racing this year but doesn't think that a more compact season will increase his chances of winning the title.

Nine races have already been postponed and the French Grand Prix is also at risk. Behind the scenes they are working hard on a new calendar that fits in with the corona crisis, but it is still very much the question how many races will be held. Charles Leclerc hopes for twelve races because that will make a nice championship.

"At least twelve races would be great, but less is still better than no championship at all," said the Ferrari driver versus Speedweek. In addition, the Monegask thinks that a short season can bring spectacle; "With fewer races it is quite possible for people to take more risk, so that can be exciting".

Opportunities for Ferrari

The Italian race team did not have the best preparation. During the winter tests they couldn't stay close to the competition, and team boss Mattia Binotto made little effort to disprove that things are not running the way they want at Ferrari. A shorter championship therefore doesn't increase the chances of a world title for Leclerc: "To be honest we weren't doing well so we'll have to wait and see. I don't think this situation makes much difference in terms of the balance of power. Mercedes with Hamilton will remain favourite", concludes the Monegask.
