Formula 1 teams such as Mercedes and McLaren have already indicated in recent months that they 'regret' that Ferrari has not seized the opportunity to reveal what exactly happened to the engine during the second half of the season. However, Marc Surer does not blame the Italian race stable and is critical towards the other Formula 1 teams.

The former Formula 1 driver thinks it is not fair to put all the blame on the FIA and Ferrari. "The problem was that none of the teams, who always wanted clarification from the FIA, had the courage to protest", he is quoted by the German Motorsport-Total.com. "Because if a team had protested, they would have to announce the result."

Jean Todt, as President of the FIA, spoke words of the same kind earlier and also said that he could not oblige Ferrari to disclose the content of the agreement with the FIA. "Because no one has protested, Ferrari now has this opportunity. You can't blame them now that they don't want to bring out this trick".

Todt's love for Ferrari

Todt has a history at Ferrari as the most successful team boss in history. That causes skewed faces and even some suspicion at several race stables. "But I'm not sure if he's still a Ferrari man," Surer continues. "His son looks after Charles Leclerc's interests." You could say, yes, there's a connection. But I think he's already distanced himself from Ferrari. I've never felt he was pro-Ferrari. I think he's pretty neutral there," said the 68-year-old Swiss.
