The Grand Prix of the Netherlands cannot be held until September 1st in 2020 and with that the chance of a race in 2020 will be very small at all. Jan Lammers acknowledges this as well, in conversation with De Telegraaf.

''It is what it is, but at least there's clarity now and I respect the experts' assessment. It has been clearly communicated. However, the management of F1 and the FIA are now facing an impossible task to make something of this Formula 1 season'', says Lammers.

Not a meter and a half in Zandvoort

Where circuits such as the Red Bull Ring and Silverstone are preparing for a race without an audience, this has never been the case in Zandvoort. ''We haven't worked anything out for this, because we don't think that's feasible. It makes no sense to present half plans. We have to see how the virus spreads and then we'll see when we can organise the race'', says Lammers, who doesn't think a race in 2020 is plausible.

Also circuit director Robert van Overdijk did not fall over because of President Rutte's announcement. ''It's no surprise for us, but it's nice that there is clarity now. The entire sector will now wait until 1 September to see what the developments will be. It's of course a bitter pill for Zandvoort, because we've been at a standstill since November 2019'', concludes Van Overdijk.
