Marko about possibility Austrian GP: ''Certainly without spectators''

Helmut Marko, together with Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz, is in close contact with the Austrian government about the continuation of the Austrian Grand Prix in Spielberg. Whether the GP weekend can go ahead is still uncertain, but according to Red Bull Racing's advisor there are positive trends.

In Austria, measures against the coronavirus were relaxed last week and it is now waiting to see if the virus outbreak can be contained any further. It's important for Formula 1 that Marko is in close contact with the government. That way Liberty Media and the FOM will be able to communicate more quickly.

For now, the Austrian Grand Prix is meant to be the kick-off of the new Formula 1 season. "Nothing has been decided yet, but at least there are positive trends and we (as Red Bull) would also be prepared in principle", Marko told F1-Insider.com.

Still, the Austrian is warning us against too much optimism. "There shouldn't be new cases in the figures of the corona pandemic and all safety measures must be respected".

In any case, no fans to Austria

These safety measures at least include the fact that no fans will be admitted to the Red Bull Ring. "If there is racing, it is certainly without spectators," said Marko, who also doesn't know if media can travel to the Austrian circuit. "Whether and how many representatives of the media will be admitted is not yet known."

Organizing two Grands Prix is something that was suddenly thrown into the world last week. It could be possible on the Red Bull Ring, but Marko has little to say about that. "Whether there will be another Grand Prix is not yet anchored in our considerations."
