With three top teams and the top of midfield picking up the points in Formula 1, there is little left for the other teams to fight for. In a new video Marc Priestley comes up with a new points system to fix that.

The new score

In normal racing conditions, teams like Williams, Haas and Alfa Romeo have no chance of getting points. Only in crazy conditions will they get points, so in some races they choose to bring the car in earlier. There is nothing more to gain and so the parts are better saved.

This also applies to other teams, who prefer to bring the car inside to save the parts for the next race because of a spin or a crash. However, if points would be awarded to more teams, you wouldn't have this problem. That's why Priestley came up with a new scoring system, which should put an end to this problem.

The last one has bad luck

The former mechanic of McLaren has kept the larger amount of points for the top, so a victory and a podium is still relatively worth a lot. However, the points will be increased so that more points can be spread over the other drivers, up to nineteenth place. Only when twenty cars finish, the last one has last bad luck and gets no points.

It also means that breakdowns become extremely expensive. With this number of points there are a lot more points to be earned and therefore also to lose if you crash. Overtaking is certainly true for more points, but not at all costs, because then you can also lose a lot of points. What do you think of Priestley's score?
