Italy, together with Spain, is the country most severely affected by the coronavirus in Europe. An extra portion of measures is imminent and they are not as tender as we may believe Sport Mediaset, among others. All major sports events are said to take place behind closed doors in 2020.

The Italian medium claims to have seen government documents. These documents state that the matches in the Italian premier league of football (Serie A) should be played without spectators until 2021. Logically, this will also have consequences for the Grand Prix organized at Monza. With some 150,000 visitors in a GP weekend, an Italian trip for British Formula 1 fans seems to fall into the water.

When the Formula 1 season of 2020 will start is still unclear. For the time being the French Grand Prix is the next race on the Formula 1 calendar, but whether it can go ahead is highly uncertain. France is expected to come Monday evening with new regulations to combat the coronavirus. At the moment Austria seems to be the first race of the year, but it is also uncertain whether it will be able to attract spectators.
