Formula 1 will start in 2020 at all costs. This is clear from the last words of Ross Brawn and that's a good thing, because the small teams need the income at the moment.

Teams will reconsider F1 future

Zak Brown had already sounded the alarm earlier and the F1 teams are not sitting around the table for a new budget cap for nothing. The financially unstable situation in Formula 1 has to change and now many teams are behind it. It may be too late, because Jean Todt also acknowledges that several teams are in big trouble.

''Continuity in motorsport is not the priority of the teams at the moment," says Todt in conversation with Motorsport.com, which once again shows that teams are trying to survive first. ''I hope of course that everyone stays in Formula 1, but then we really have to listen to the teams and do something for them'', says Todt.

Every disadvantage has its advantage

''We'll have to look at everything in the process and be modest. We love motor racing, but it's not crucial to our society. We have to make a wise decision and that's why different car brands and suppliers will rethink their future in Formula 1'', said Todt.

Still, Todt doesn't want to sit back and relax. ''It will take some time, but I hope we will come out of this better. We need to think more about our future and not let the costs increase dramatically. In a crisis there are a lot of bad things, but you can learn a lot from them'', concludes Todt.
