Traditional racing teams like McLaren and Williams see more and more teams 'working together' in Formula 1. Red Bull Racing and AlphaTauri are known to work together and Haas F1 buys almost all its parts for the car from the Italian Ferrari. McLaren and Williams demand clear rules from the FIA.

Especially when the new regulations enter the royal class of motor racing in 2022, it is important not to let the technical cooperation between large and smaller teams get out of hand. "We have to draw the line here," says Claire Williams at Motorsport-Total.com. The team boss of the teams of the same name fears differently for the future if they want to remain independent.

However, the 43-year-old British would like to make it clear that she doesn't want to ban alliances altogether. She only demands clear rules: "We have to draw the line where we are now, if we don't have to take a step back", Williams believes.

McLaren and Williams agree

Williams gets support from colleague Andreas Seidl. The chief of McLaren says: "We have to make sure that the rules are not broken when two teams work together. For example, by moving employees from one team to the other", the German refers to the upcoming budget ceiling. "If there is, we have to make sure that it's really a limit and that it's the same limit for everyone".
