In addition to advising Red Bull Racing and being a good friend of Red Bull boss Dieter Mateschitz, Helmut Marko also runs several hotels in his town of Graz. There too, the measures against the spread of the coronavirus have major consequences, and of course the Austrian has his opinion ready.

Marko is very critical of the Austrian government and the measures they have taken to combat the COVID-19 virus. He was already one of the biggest supporters of the Australian Grand Prix in Formula 1 and last week he clearly showed that he thinks the measures are a bit exaggerated. He tells the Kronen Zeitung what effect the far-reaching measures have on his hotels.

"I'm amazed at what people accept and how they deal with this. I don't really understand it at all. All you have to do is look at it from an economic perspective." According to Marko the measures are so drastic that they do more damage than necessary.

He does, however, indicate that he may want to make his hotels available if the hospitals can no longer cope with the influx of patients. However, the 76-year-old doesn't care about his own health. In his own words, he lives a structured life in which he alternates hours in his office with the hours he spends in nature.
