Formula E is now in its sixth season, having started in 2014/15 with a host of drivers, ranging from former F1 drivers and endurance drivers. Today, we look over the top five best drivers since the series began.

 1. Jean-Eric Vergne

We start off with the only double world champion in the history of the sport, former Toro Rosso driver Jean-Eric Vergne. The Frenchman has missed only two races since the series' inception, not winning his first race until the 2016/17 season-ending round in Canada. Since then Vergne has been unstoppable, guiding Techeetah to their first team's championship and his second world title in a row last season. He will go down as a legend in a sport that is so topsy turvy.

2. Sebastian Buemi

Like Vergne, Buemi is a former Toro Rosso and was the second-ever Formula E champion, racking up the most victories in the series with 13 wins. He would probably be a double world champion had he not missed the 2016/17 New York E-Prix doubleheader. The Swiss racer has a fiery attitude and is ridiculously quick and with Nissan E-Dams he's with a team that has the potential for big things.

3. Lucas Di Grassi

Another driver from the very start and another world champion, Lucas Di Grassi is at the forefront of the electric revolution. Champion of the 2016/17 season, the Brazilian has always been competitive and seems to be in a title fight every season. In his prime, there is more to come from the knowledgable South American.

4. Sam Bird

Bird is the only man in the history of the sport to win a race in every season, a 3rd placed finish in the 2017/18 season and a 5th with two 4th placed finishes in the previous three championships before showed just how good Bird is. Although not a champion, he has the speed and mental strength to push through a title challenge.

5. Antonio Felix Da Costa

Like Bird, Da Costa is not a champion, but he is extremely quick. He has proved that even without the fastest car under him, he is able to compete with the best. A win in Diriyah at the start of the 2018/19 season showed what he is capable of, and having just won his first race for Techeetah last time out in Marrakesh, once the season gets going again, Da Costa looks like an unstoppable force.
