Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner has spoken out about the coronavirus and the effects it is having on the F1 season but is happy with the measures the sport is taking towards the pandemic.

With the pending postponement of Azerbaijan Grand Prix, this will be the latest start to an F1 season in its history due to the coronavirus pandemic, along with the summer break moving to March and April. Horner has voiced his approval of the measures taken by the FIA and F1 in ensuring racing can commence soon.

“Everyone in the Formula 1 world has come together recently to work hard and do the right thing, given the bizarre circumstances," Horner said to Crash.net. "Many measures have been taken to ensure that it is safe for the fans, the F1 staff and the communities we visit, to eventually return to racing, which is why we fully support F1 and FIA in their decisions, including the decision to postpone the new technical regulations to 2022."

"At Red Bull Racing, we focus on implementing the best possible measures and ensuring the health and wellbeing of our employees and their families. Of course, we are deeply disappointed that we cannot race, but this pandemic is bigger than the sport.

"Change is necessary at this time, but fear not, once the season starts it will be one to remember."

Formula One is set to return for the Canadian Grand Prix, the scheduled eighth race of the season.
